U.S. Stocks
Fundamental Analysis:
U.S. stocks fell on Friday, 4th March 2022, with the S&P 500 Index down by 0.8%, as increased concerns about the risk of war between Russia and Ukraine sparked global market turmoil.
Crude oil topped $115 per barrel as the U.S. is considering a ban on imports of Russian crude.
The S&P 500 fell for the fourth time in five days as commodities posted their biggest one-week gain since 1974. At the same time, S&P Dow Jones Indices joined other global index compilers that will remove Russian stocks from their indexes.
Three Russian-focused ETFs suspended trading on Friday, a move the NYSE said was based on “regulatory concerns,” and JPMorgan Chase warned that the Russian economy will face a collapse similar to or worse than 1998.
On the other hand, the sharp increase in February U.S. non-farm payrolls indicates strong labor market conditions that could help the Federal Reserve implement a rate hike this month, while wage growth slowed, easing some inflationary pressures.
